The nation’s top-rated environmental charity dedicated to protecting America’s land and water legacy for current and future generations, The Conservation Fund specializes in partnering with communities, corporations and governments to develop innovative solutions for the nation’s complex conservation challenges. The Fund pioneers a balanced approach to conservation, one that blends environmental and economic needs and objectives.

In 2007 the Fund and its partners invested more than $372 million in land acquisition to conserve more than 412,000 acres of America’s unmatched natural resources, cultural heritage and historic sites. Since 1985 The Conservation Fund has protected more than 6 million acres valued in excess of $3.6 billion.

The Conservation Fund’s work is made possible with generous support from individuals, foundations, corporations and government agencies. Its commitment to accountability and donor transparency remains a cornerstone of its operations. The Fund never sells its donor information, nor does it make its donor list available to anyone outside the organization.

The Fund’s 1 percent fundraising cost is the lowest in the environmental field, and 97 cents of every dollar donated to the Fund go directly to support land conservation, sustainable programs, community initiatives and leadership training. With broad-based philanthropic support, high-quality management controls and a commitment to strategic growth, The Conservation Fund is well positioned to continue its leadership role in protecting America’s most important land and water resources.
