Bobcat Ridge

This 7,000-acre property in eastern Texas in one of America’s best forests. We saved it.

To save some of America’s best forests before they become shopping malls, vineyards or subdivisions, we deploy our Working Forests program, a dedicated source of capital. Our goal is to purchase and manage key forests as working land that’s sustainably harvested, providing timber revenue, jobs, clean water and wildlife habitat at the same time.

In 2011, we tapped Working Forests to purchase a 7,000-acre property in eastern Texas known as Bobcat Ridge, which includes 11 miles of the Neches River.

Sustainable Forestry? How Does It Work?

Protecting and maintaining working forests, and the communities that depend on them, remains one of the Fund’s top conservation priorities.

Why Do Forests Matter?

At The Conservation Fund, we believe that well-managed forests can be both economically viable and ecologically sustainable, but like all other necessary parts of our national infrastructure, they need to be invested in and maintained. That’s why, since 1985, we’ve protected more than a million forest acres across America. Protecting and maintaining working forests, and the communities that depend on them, remains one of our top conservation priorities.
