Ben Fryer

Associate State Director, California

Ben helps lead The Conservation Fund’s California program, advancing land conservation and economic opportunity through partnerships with public agencies, tribes, land trusts, the private sector, and philanthropy.

Ben’s work includes structuring, negotiating, and financing acquisitions, with a focus on working forests, farmland, and ranchland. He also supports enhanced funding for land conservation and restoration, overseeing The Conservation Fund’s coalition building and advocacy in California in support of bond measures, the carbon market, and other sources of public funding.

Prior to joining The Conservation Fund, Ben was a real estate and finance attorney in the San Francisco office of a large international law firm, where he represented institutional lenders, borrowers, buyers and sellers in transactions across a range of industries.

Ben was raised in Northern California and lives with his family in Sacramento. He holds a B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley; a Master of Forestry from Yale School of the Environment; and a J.D. from Yale Law School.
