Brendan Weiner

Montana State Director

Brendan currently serves as the Montana State Director for The Conservation Fund from his office in Bozeman, Montana. In this role, Brendan works closely with private landowners, agricultural producers, nonprofit organizations, and agency partners to initiate, develop, and complete conservation projects that protect Montana’s working lands, vital wildlife habitat, and iconic scenic landscapes. He leads a diverse statewide portfolio and advances The Conservation Fund’s mission of achieving durable, community-driven conservation outcomes.

Prior to joining The Conservation Fund, Brendan served as the Conservation Director at the Gallatin Valley Land Trust in Bozeman, where he spent more than a decade providing strategic oversight for the organization’s conservation program and completing numerous conservation easement and fee simple acquisitions.

Before his time at GVLT, Brendan worked as a consulting forester and ecologist, assisting public and private landowners with natural resource inventories, habitat assessments, and long-term land management plans. His early field experience also includes serving as a wildland firefighter with the U.S. Forest Service and working as a professional ski patroller in California and New Zealand.

Brendan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Connecticut College and a Master of Science in Ecological Planning from the University of Vermont, where he focused on land-use planning, landscape ecology, and community-centered conservation.

A longtime Montana resident, Brendan spends his free time exploring the state’s rivers, mountains, and trails with his family and enjoys skiing, biking, and hunting in the places he works to protect.
