Forest Operations Manager, Working Forest Fund

David-Whitehouse-205x250David joined The Conservation Fund in 2015 and assumed responsibility for the management of all forestry, recreational leasing, and Forest Stewardship Council®/Sustainable Forestry Initiative® certification issues on Working Forest Fund lands.  David also assists the team with acquisition and disposition of Fund lands.

David comes to The Fund with many years of experience, starting with a decade of private lands wildlife and fisheries management in Texas. He then worked as a Forest Ecologist in east Texas for International Paper, managing wildlife and leasing operations on a 200,000 acre land base.  Afterwards, he became the Region Wildlife Manager, assuming responsibility for all wildlife and environmental issues on a 2,000,000 acre land base.  When IP sold their remaining land in 2005, he took on a variety of roles, including Land Sales Forester, Procurement Forester, and most recently, Certification Specialist. This position included developing, managing, and growing their Forest Stewardship Council® forest management group. 

David received his Bachelor’s in Wildlife Management and his Master’s in Forestry from Stephen F. Austin State University.  He received his certification as a Certified Wildlife Biologist from The Wildlife Society early in his career.  He enjoys hunting, fishing, and gardening.
