Project Manager For Website Redesign (Contract)

We are looking for a temporary project manager to oversee our website redesign. This position will last the duration of the website redesign.

The best candidate is organized, communicates clearly, works well with others and has experience seeing projects to completion. The Project Manager reports to the Online Content Manager.

Preference is for someone in the Washington D.C./Arlington, VA area but all candidates qualified to work in the U.S. will be considered.

The project manager will:

  • Act as the organization’s primary point person with outside designer/developer and related vendors;
  • Maintain a project calendar, ensuring that deliverables are achieved on budget and on time;
  • Consistently communicate with organizational staff, web developer/designer and any required outside vendors;
  • Work with developers and staff to confirm that proposed design and technical solutions will actually meet The Conservation Fund's needs;
  • Coordinate between select program staff and developers to test and implement technical and design solutions;
  • Collaborate with marketing/communications staff and developers to collect and provide content/graphics for the redesign;
  • Work to ensure that the redesign project stays on track and on deadline, holding outside consultants accountable for progress;
  • Report weekly updates to a core website redesign team;
  • Document all relevant project details and decisions for future reference.

HR & Administration Coordinator

We are seeking a customer service oriented individual to provide assistance to the Manager of HR and Admin as well as coordinate and ensure smooth operations of the administrative function throughout the Fund. Majority of the responsibilities will be in the headquarters office in Arlington, VA.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Administrative duties &8212; typing/mailing letters, filing, and answering calls. Distributes documentation.
  • Human Resources &8212; maintaining confidentiality will assist with recruiting, monitor/maintain various benefits, answer questions relating to recruiting, benefits, policies, etc.
  • Coordinates with the Assistant Controller on payroll related projects and data entry.
  • Provides training and orientation for new employees as well as field staff
  • Works closely with Office Managers in other locations to ensure uniformity throughout The Fund and coordinate activities/events.
  • Coordinates with building management to ensure public areas are safe, secure and clean/appealing.
  • Maintains fax machines, copiers, phones and other office equipment to ensure that the machines are operational.
  • Responsible for incoming/outgoing mail deliveries of all types including USPS, FedEx and UPS.
  • Coordinates on-site lunches/catering in the most cost effective manner.
  • Serves as back-up to the front desk receptionist/assistant including training temporaries in this function when required.

The qualified candidate will have administrative skills with a minimum of 1-3 years related experience. Knowledge of human resource policies and procedures strongly desired or a strong desire/interest in HR. Excellent organizational skills required. Must be diligent, have a willingness to assist others and strong customer service skills. The ability to troubleshoot office machines including phones, faxes, copiers and any other office hard/software is essential. Must be an excellent oral/written communicator, have great interpersonal skills and work well with a variety of people. Must be able to maintain confidentiality, be attentive to detail, work independently as well as be team oriented. Must be able to meet critical deadlines. Computer knowledge/skills are essential. The ideal person for this position must be able to lift up to 25 pounds, be flexible and have a can do attitude.

Forester / Forestry Technician

This position is located in our Caspar, CA office.

 

The Conservation Fund is seeking a Forester / Forest Technician to provide field support for our North Coast Forest Conservation Program in Mendocino County, California. The position will work on all of the Fund’s North Coast properties to aid in forest inventories, Timber Harvest Plan preparation (including watercourse classification and timber marking), watershed restoration projects, community outreach, and wildlife and botanical assessments. It is desired that the candidate, with the training and experience gained through this work, will have the potential to take on more direct land management responsibilities, such as Timber Harvest Plan drafting and oversight of contractors.

The Conservation Fund’s North Coast Forest Conservation Initiative was launched in 2004 with the acquisition of the 24,000-acre Garcia River Forest, followed two years later with the addition of 16,000 acres in the Big River and Salmon Creek watersheds. By acquiring these properties, the Fund seeks to demonstrate that large tracts of intensively managed coastal forest can gradually be returned to sustainable timber production and ecological vitality through the use of innovative financing and patient management by a nonprofit organization in partnership with private and public agencies and community stakeholders. The qualified candidate will have a valid California driver’s license and safe driving record, as well as good communication and organizational skills. Should be a hard worker with previous experience providing field forestry services, or related work, in a safe and reliable manner. Should be familiar with California forest practice regulations and have a desire to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team dedicated to sustainable forestry. Must be capable of safely traveling to and from remote field sites and performing physical work in various weather conditions and on difficult and hazardous terrain.

Fluency in Spanish desired but not required. Degree in forest management or a related field is expected. Women, minorities and veterans are especially encouraged to apply.

Forest Operations Manager – East

Location: Chapel Hill, NC

 

We are seeking a manager to manage day-to-day operations on fee and timberland acquisitions and assist with dispositions of fee land and easement sales. Duties include but are not limited to: operation budgets, leases, taxes and forest certification. Will maintain and enhance neighbor, partner and stakeholder relationships. Will manage/grow a team of consultants on all of the TCF and New Forest Fund (NFF) forested properties east of the Mississippi River as well as execute, monitor, adjust and report on the progress of these pro-forma business plans. Monitor regional product pricing and market trends. This position will be located in our Chapel Hill, NC office.

The qualified candidate must be self motivated and an independent professional with excellent communication skills. Expert knowledge of basic business software (MS Word, Excel) and ARC-GIS preferred. A bachelor’s degree in forestry or a closely related natural resource field and a minimum of 5 years experience required and/or a master’s in Natural Resource Management or business field strongly preferred. Must be able to interact well with a diverse population of stakeholders, timberland owners, public agencies, non-profit organizations and local citizens. Experience with planning and evaluating forest operations including the understanding of silvicultural regimes, forest inventory systems, roads, certification schemes and environmental regulations needed. Must have a valid driver’s license and a willingness/ability to travel/visit frequently throughout the eastern US to remote forested tracts. Senior Network Administrator

We are seeking an experienced network administrator to install, maintain and support our computer network. Will ensure the smooth operation of computing network to provide maximum performance and availability to staff, clients and customers.

The essential functions of the position include but are not limited to:

  • installing, supporting and maintaining new server hardware and software infrastructure;
  • maintaining and enhancing data backup procedures using Symantec Backup Exec
  • providing end-user technical support with an emphasis on customer service and communication
  • setting up user accounts, permissions and passwords; maintain global address book
  • monitoring network usage;
  • suggesting and providing IT solutions to business and management problems;
  • analyzing and resolving faults, ranging from a major system crash to a forgotten password;

The qualified candidate will have hands-on experience implementing and administrating network devices, setting and maintaining policies and rights within a Windows 2003 server environment that includes Cisco network switches, HR SAN and Dell servers, Wireless Access Points, Windows server Active Directory, Vmware virtual servers, Symantec Backup Exec and related tape drives/auto loaders. Desktop and laptop installation and problem resolution in a Windows XP environment required. A degree in IT or a related field and/or 3 years hands-on LAN experience in a Windows 2003/2008 environment, CCNA and/or 2 years experience configuring and supporting Cisco switches and other networking hardware needed. Must be able to operate under deadlines, set priorities and assume a leadership role in the absence of the CIO.

Knowledge of NTFS permissions, DNS, DHVP, TCPIP protocol with hands-on experience with Vmware’s ESX server desired. Excellent verbal/written communication and strong customer service skills essential. Must have excellent follow through, be a self-starter and possess a high level of initiative.

Must be able to lift basic computer, server and network equipment and participate in scheduled network maintenance during non-business hours. An interest in conservation/environmental issues strongly desired.
