Mr. Outlaw is one of the few remaining African-American farmers in Southwest Michigan. In Cass County alone, less than a dozen African-American farmers still actively farm. Mr. Outlaw has taken many steps to 'green' his operations. With help from the Natural Resources Conservation Service, he has worked on pasture management and built a compost facility. In the future, he plans to install a chemical containment system, cut a road to improve access to his land, and potentially put up a seasonal high tunnel greenhouse. He also uses no-till farming whenever possible.
