Circle R Ranch
Scenic ranches along the West’s great rivers rarely come onto the market—and even more rarely become publicly owned. The Circle R Ranch, rimmed by five miles of the Yellowstone River, is a magnificent exception.
Circle R Ranch is about 30 miles east of Billings and two and a half miles west of Pompeys Pillar National Monument. When the owners put the ranch on the market, Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks officials were concerned that they would not be able to acquire the land by the landowners’ sale deadline. We were able to negotiate and close the sale on schedule ensuring the land could then be re-sold into public ownership.
The purchase of Circle R Ranch provides public access to more than 4,000 acres of open space, allowing Circle R Ranch to be enjoyed by hikers and campers.
