Scott Kelly

North Coast Timberland Manager, Working Forest Fund


Scott oversees all forest operations on 74,000 acres of the North Coast Forest Conservation Initiative. As the supervising forester in California, Scott is responsible for all aspects of forest management, including log merchandising, harvest supervision, forest planning, ecological silviculture, and road construction and maintenance. He also has extensive knowledge of state and federal forest regulations and permitting requirements and is intimately familiar with the ecology and monitoring procedures for rare plants, spotted owls, and fish populations.

As a California Registered Professional Forester, Scott has almost 30 years of experience in a variety of western forest types. He has worked as a forester in the redwood region of California since 1989, serving in senior roles with Gualala Redwoods and Campbell Timberland Management before joining The Conservation Fund in 2004. He is currently the Chairman of the Mendocino County Co-Operative Aerial Fire Patrol and a member of the California Licensed Forester Association.

Scott holds a B.S. in Forestry from Humboldt State University.
