Philip M. Backover, is an Aquaculture Systems Technician for the Freshwater Institute, a field office and program of The Conservation Fund, Arlington, VA.
Phil Backover earned his Bachelor’s degree in Aquatic and Environmental Sciences from Shepherd University in 2010. He began as a part time research intern in 2009 and was hired full time upon graduation from college to pursue training for a career in commercial fish production in land-based aquaculture systems. In the past he has been involved in several research studies and grow-out trials of species including Arctic char, Coho salmon, Atlantic salmon, Rainbow trout, and Yellow perch. He currently plays a key role in the Atlantic salmon performance trials in the Freshwater Institute’s sustainable land based aquaculture systems.
