Upcoming National Courses - Fall 2008

NATIONAL COURSE OFFERINGS:

Registration is filling up quickly for our next national course offering of Strategic Conservation Planning Using a Green Infrastructure Approach, September 8-12, 2008 at the National Conservation Training Center in Shepherdstown, WV. Please register by August 15, 2008 to secure your spot! This course is offered in partnership with the US Fish and Wildlife Service / NCTC.

GIS Tools for Strategic Conservation Planning provides the opportunity for you to apply Green Infrastructure concepts and principles using GIS. This course is being offered November 18-21, 2008 at the National Conservation Training Center is Shepherdstown, WV. Space is limited to only 18 participants, so please register by October 17, 2008 to secure your spot. This course is offered in partnership with NOAA Coastal Services Center and is designed for advanced GIS practitioners.

Summer is the perfect time to start forming a team to attend the annual national course Balancing Nature and Commerce in Communities that Neighbor Public Lands, being offered January 26-29, 2009 at the National Conservation Training Center. During this four day course, teams comprised of 4-7 representatives consisting of public land managers and community members focus on the economics, natural resources and community character of their areas and learn valuable partnership-building skills. At the end of the four days, teams leave with specific action plans for implementation when they return home. Team applications are due December 5, 2008. This course is offered in partnership with the US Fish and Wildlife Service / NCTC and the NPS / Conservation Study Institute.

PLACE-BASED OFFERINGS:

The Conservation Leadership Network also conducts custom courses for agencies, municipalities and other entities interested in advancing specific conservation goals. This fall, CLN instructors will conduct Planning a Sustainable Future for Kenai, AK, September 22-26, 2008 and Green Infrastructure Training for MD State Highway Administration, October 1-3, 2008.
