California Carbon Action Registry Move Readies Forest to Sell Carbon Offsets.
Garcia River ForestThis week, The Conservation Fund’s Garcia River Forest, a property on California’s North Coast, became the largest forest recognized by the California Climate Action Registry as a verified source of carbon credits. Garcia River Forest now has the capacity to store more than 77,000 tons of carbon emissions annually, which is equivalent to taking more than 14,000 cars off the road. Read More>
Greener Reading with Coastal Living
First magazine in the nation to Go ZeroSM for an issue.
Coastal Living logo The Conservation Fund worked with Coastal Living to measure the carbon dioxide emissions that resulted from the press, finishing, printing and binding of the Magazine's March 2008 issue. The first magazine in the nation to "Go Zero"SM for an issue, Coastal Living will make a donation to The Conservation Fund to offset its emissions by planting trees in protected parks and wildlife refuges across the nation. As they grow the new forests will help fight climate change, enhance public recreation areas and restore critical habitat for wildlife.
