Baltimore County: Agricultural Preservation and Water Quality

The Conservation Fund completed an analysis of the County’s existing agricultural land preservation program and determined that their existing 80,000-acre goal was reasonable and could be achieved in less time using optimization tools in their decision making process.  Read more>

Civil War Battlefields: Targeting Protection Opportunities

To support the protection of historically significant Civil War battlefield sites, The Conservation Fund was asked by the Civil War Preservation Trust to undertake rapid assessments of battlefields across the country.   Read more>

The Conservation Fund worked with the Houston Parks Board to conduct an assessment of new parkland acquisition opportunities and to assist with the implementation of parks master plans.  Read more>

Jefferson County, WV is imperiled by fragmented patterns of growth that disrupt normal ecosystem functions, community vitality, and limiting future opportunities. The continued protection of the County’s diverse natural and rural landscapes, and economic vitality rely on the conservation of its unique ecological and cultural geography.   Read more>

Using the green infrastructure approach to strategic conservation, the Fund delineated the Delaware Ecological Network, a series of GIS layers that identify and prioritize the areas of greatest ecological importance within the State’s natural ecosystems.  Read more>

Kona, Hawai’i: Assessing Green Infrastructure

Green infrastructure in Kona embraces the ahupua’a, the ancient Hawaii land division from “the mountain to the sea” that supported a self-contained community working with the spirit of cooperation of caring and revering the land to meet the needs of all.  Read more>

Metro Atlanta: Assessing Conservation Opportunities

Working with The Conservation Fund and local groups, the Arthur M. Blank Foundation is expanding parks and open space in this fast-growing city.  Read more>

Spartanburg Rapid Parks Assessment, SC

The Conservation Fund, in partnership with Upstate Forever - Spartanburg, completed the Spartanburg County Rapid Parks Assessment. The rapid assessment facilitated identification and prioritization of parkland, greenway, and greenbelt protection opportunities that advance the goals of local parks and active living advocates.  Read more>
