Conservation and Development
The Fund’s Conservation and Development program works with landowners and communities to address the accelerating consumption and fragmentation of open land and to help create, maintain and enhance livable communities. A national leader in land-use planning, community visioning, and land conservation, the Fund creates strategies to improve both conservation and development. Grants from the Dunn Foundation, Environmental Protection Agency, Jackson Hole Preserve, Inc., Prince Charitable Trust, Rauch Foundation, Surdna Foundation, Inc., Town Creek Foundation, and Virginia Environmental Endowment support the program.

Gateway Communities
Through its Gateways Communities Program, The Conservation Fund works with communities across the country to create strategies that preserve their unique heritage while growing their economy and preserving their appeal. Greenways
The Conservation Fund's Greenways Program works with individuals, organizations, corporations and public agencies to protect and expand America’s connected system of trails, parks and open space. These corridors of protected public and private land link recreational, cultural and natural features, provide pathways for people and wildlife, protect forests, wetlands and grasslands, and improve the quality of life for everyone. Green Infrastructure
In this publication land-use experts, Mark Benedict and Ed McMahon, explore the concept of “green infrastructure” – a term that is appearing more and more frequently in land conservation and development discussions across the country and around the world. Depending on context, this term can refer to anything from trees in urban areas to engineered structures designed to be environmentally friendly.

Civil War Battlefield Campaign
The Conservation Fund's Civil War Battlefield Campaign works in partnerships to protect our nation's hallowed ground, to provide comprehensive and concise information on the 384 principal Civil War battlefields, designated by the Civil War Sites Advisory Commission, and to honor those that fought and died in the war.
