Efforts to restore the Anacostia not only include reconstituting wetlands but also opening the river up for recreational and educational opportunities. AWS is working to build a nature education center near these reconstituted wetlands that will offer the public, particularly children, an opportunity to learn about the health and restoration of the river and surrounding wetlands. The hope is that with more people visiting and learning about the Anacostia there will be an increased interest in its restoration.
