The Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens is one of the many interesting stops along the river and are, as the river guide suggests, a "secret beauty spot" in Washington. Started by Walter Shaw in the late 1800s, the gardens were added to Anacostia Park in 1938. To read more about the gardens, visit the National Park Service's website.
