Sustainable Wood From The Fund

Timber on a truck

The wooden tall ship will be both historic and sustainable: The Fund donated 73 Douglas Fir logs from our sustainably managed Big River Forest in Mendocino County. This Forest Stewardship Council certified lumber will be the principle wood used in the ship’s construction and will make up more than 50% of the ship’s structure, including the masts and hull.
