Wood not only is the primary building material for the ship, but also the most eco-effective. Educational Tall Ship Executive Director Alan Olson and Construction Superintendent Marc Bauer size up a log for the keel of the ship. The timber was cut at Berry’s Mill in Cazadero, the local sawmill trained by the Forest Stewardship Council. Once completed it will provide unique educational experiences to more than 10,000 youth each year.
