Across the country, communities increasingly confront water issues. Is there too little water—or too much? Is it clean? Can the entire community use and enjoy its rivers, lakes and streams?
The Conservation Fund works to protect freshwater supply, critical water infrastructure and recreation destinations. Our Freshwater Institute offers water engineering and technical counsel for aquaculture and sustainable water issues. At the Fund, we know that infrastructure is not only grey—but also blue and green.
THE FRESHWATER INSTITUTE (www.freshwaterinstitute.org)
The Conservation Fund’s Freshwater Institute develops solutions for sustainable water use, through technology innovation and engineering and technical counsel. Launched 20 years ago, the Institute is globally recognized for pioneering sustainable aquaculture methods that save water and money, with a minimal environmental footprint.
Today, the Freshwater Institute creates and tests clean-water technologies and provides conservation strategies to reuse, reclaim and restore freshwater. Our staff brings original engineering research, expertise and economic development skills to tough water issues, including watershed management, wetlands restoration, wildlife habitat conservation planning and pollution prevention.
