From Wall Street to your street, 2008 has been a year of ups and downs. Here at The Conservation Fund, we continue to move steadily forward, helping communities grow economically and environmentally. This year, with our partners, we protected over 160,000 acres of America’s landscape—conserving land and water at excellent values.
Among our successes, we put your dollars to work as we:
Brokered a historic agreement with an Alaskan native village corporation to conserve 20,000 acres in a popular state park with key salmon habitat.
Launched the Pineywoods Mitigation Bank – an ambitious effort to restore 19,000 forest acres along East Texas’s Neches River.
Protected cherished ranchlands near Colorado’s Navajo River and along Montana’s Rockies.
Sustainably managed Garcia River Forest on California’s North Coast, to nourish the local economy and environment, while fighting climate change.
